How to Become and NFTRA Rider
NFTRA
To be accepted into the NFTRA riding program, it's a requirement that you complete the Rider Contact Information Form and have your physician complete the Physician Referral Form (guidlines) and return both completed forms to the NFTRA at the following address:
North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association
12471 - 254th Street, Maple Ridge, BC
V4R 1V4

Rider Contact Information Form   -   Physician Referral Form   (guidlines)

It is mandatory that a parent, guardian or friend who is physically capable of volunteering, accompany the rider to each lesson. In the event that there are not enough volunteers present for the lesson, they will be asked to assist their rider.
When you're accepted into the program you will be contacted to arrange a date for a riding assessment. This assessment will provide an opportunity for you to meet the instructors and to have your needs as a rider assessed.
Upon acceptance into the program you will be required to complete the following forms:
  • Confidentiality and Billing and Administrative form
  • Parent/Guardian Release form
  • Emergency treatment form
  • Parent/guardian volunteer information and liability form
Inclusion in the program is dependent upon many factors, including the availability of the instructors, volunteers and horses. It's highly desirable for a parent, guardian or friend to volunteer with the rider during their lesson if at all possible.
